About PT-141 (Bremelanotide)
PT-141, also known as bremelanotide, is a synthetic cyclic peptide studied for melanocortin receptor activity and central nervous system pathways associated with sexual desire and arousal.
How It Works
Bremelanotide activates several melanocortin receptor subtypes, including MC1R and MC4R. MC4R-expressing neurons occur throughout the central nervous system. Its receptor-based action differs from the PDE5-inhibitor mechanism of sildenafil and tadalafil. The exact mechanism behind the clinical effects of prescription Vyleesi remains unknown.
Medical Status & Research Context
Prescription bremelanotide is sold as Vyleesi, an FDA-approved medicine for certain premenopausal women with acquired, generalized hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD). That approval applies to the prescription formulation. This P3 10MG research vial is not Vyleesi and is not an FDA-approved medicine.
For laboratory research only. Not for human consumption or medical use.
